The brief but mighty windstorm that hit parts of Cook County on Thursday, May 15, affected quite a few people in a few areas. While Grand Marais skipped it, it hit very hard in Tofte and Colvill. Arrowhead Cooperative’s CEO, John Twiest, responded to some questions about his crews’ workload following the wicked winds.

After a long discussion, the Commissioners approved a custodial agreement with ISD 166 to provide custodial services to the YMCA. The vote was 3-2, with Ginny Storlie, Ann Sullivan, and David Mills voting for and commissioners Deb White and Garry Gamble voting against. Both Gamble and White asked that the matter be tabled until they could learn more about what costs the county has incurred while caring for the space occupied by the Y.
On Tuesday, May 20, from 4-6 p.m., Care Partners celebrated its 10th anniversary and hosted an open house at its new office at 615 East Highway 61. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, with past and present board members in the photo and a large crowd on hand.
