Conservation Officer Tales
Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. The News-Herald shares these stories as a reminder to all to be safe and to follow the rules!

As of May 11, our neighbor Lake County has seen massive wildfires.
The field narrows to ten for the county administrator job
From a pool of 25 diverse applicants, ten have been chosen for interviews for the Cook County Administrator position. The application process concluded on May 7, and interviews are set to take place in early June, with the field narrowed to several finalists.
Big wind, heavy rain cause storm damage
Sitting in the Coho Café Thursday, on a rainy, thunderstorm May 15 evening, John Storkamp, the race director for the Superior Spring Trail race that took place on Saturday, said a huge wind came out of nowhere for about 45 seconds “that had to reach 90-mph, maybe 100 mph. It was crazy.”
