Shirley Anderson

Shirley Mae (Sobczak) Anderson, 87, of Prescott, Arizona, went to meet our Father in Heaven on April 30, 2025. Born December 26, 1937 in Kettle River, Minnesota. Shirley married Dale Anderson on December 31, 1954, in Moose Lake, Minnesota. They moved to Grand Marais, Minnesota, in 1954, where they raised seven children on Maple Hill on the Gunflint Trail.

Minnesota Snow Drag Tour results

The second year of the Minnesota Snow Drag Tour wrapped up with several local talents achieving top finishes. This snowmobiling points series includes events like the Cook County Ridge Riders Drag Races and MESC Triplefest races. The tour organizers approached the Ridge Riders initially, impressed by their race management, and asked them to adopt some of their classes to make the Ridge Riders races qualifying events for the series. Following this partnership, MESC and Triplefest enlisted Ridge Riders board members Stephanie Radloff (announcer) and Malorie Brazell (brackets) to handle announcing and brackets at their events as well.

Steve David Benson

Our family invites you to a celebration of life for Steve Benson, which will be held on Sunday, May 18th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Hub (senior center) at 10 Broadway Ave, in Grand Marais. A lunch will follow the celebration.

Can Cook County protect Federal land?

County Commissioners are considering if the County can fund service and protection for the Fed owned roads, culverts and land (about 363,000 acres). Needed is an adequate Fed payment n Lieu of Taxes (PILT). $1.3 million Fed PILT was paid n 2024.

The Grand Marais Playhouse is gearing up for another fantastic summer! Registration is open for the summer youth theater camp in June and rehearsals are underway for the two repertory shows that open in July.
