Canada will re-open its Remote Area Border Crossing permits

BRIAN LARSEN On Tuesday, February 18, Canada announced that all border remote border processing permits issued after September 1, 2023, would be valid through December 31, 2025. This was good news for cabin owners, fishing guides, lodge owners and others who go back and fourth across the border.

Wehseler makes it two in a row at the Midnight Run, and Oberg takes third

Tofte sled dog musher Rita Wehseler is putting together a great season of sled dog racing. Coming off of a first-place finish in the Gunflint Mail Run, Rita won the eight-dog Midnight Run, an 82-mile race held February 12-14. Wehseler and her welltrained dog team covered the distance in 9:43:32. Coming in third place was Joanna Oberg, Grand Marais, who was running a team of dogs from Wehseler’s 36-dog Stoney Creek Kenneks. Joanna finished in 10:25:08.
