Looking back on the recent holiday season, it is easy to see why materialism is considered negative with the wanton waste, excess, and unwarranted stress. And yet, are we simplifying and bypassing a very important aspect of life by focusing only on the negative of materialism? Is there a positive to materialism?

“I am more motivated to stay fit when I exercise in a group. I love being with friends who have similar goals,” said a recent participant in a group class at the Hub. Many would agree it is often more difficult to accomplish things alone! The Senior Center offers three free classes focusing on both exercise and mind connection. Apparently, there is a need for low impact activities as evidence by those who attend activities on a weekly basis.
