A vote for Schultz is a vote for veterans

While we may not live next door to each other, we are neighbors within the borders of the 8th Congressional district which is why I’m writing to you today. Two years ago, my dad, a 79-year-old Air Force veteran, decided to take his own life.

INFLATION 101 – THE CHALLENGE!

If you think that Joe Biden and the Democrats caused the Global Inflation which started in mid 2020, I challenge you to an internet search! You will learn the actual causes from sources such as the World Bank Group, US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Business Insider and an extensive Wikipedia article with 236 footnote credits. The COVID-19 pandemic caused huge disruption with a loss of workers due to illnesses and deaths reducing the size of the workforce resulting in a dramatic slowdown in the production of goods, shipping and receiving at ports as well as distribution by truck and rail, increased energy demand and price volatility, increased wages and consumer demand stimulated by low interest rates and government monetary stimulus packages provided by both the Trump and Biden administrations enacted to sustain household incomes in crisis and the liquidity of financial institutions.

Moose Madness draws lots of families to Grand Marais

Crowds approached Fisherman Picnic levels this past weekend as folks from near and far came to celebrate Moose Madness. With perfect weather conditions— warm and sunny— and the chance to see Murray the Moose strolling through town, unique moose-themed items to buy in stores, crafts, and games held at North House Folk School, and the hunt for the Medallion, one couldn't expect fewer visitors to our area.

Empty Bowls will be held on November 14

At the upcoming Empty Bowls fundraiser on November 14 at Up Yonder, the community will once again unite. This year, you'll have the opportunity to savor a diverse range of soups, generously donated by most of the area's restaurants and caterers.
