CCHS Vikings start practice for fall sports

At Cook County High School, the fall sports season is in full swing, offering a diverse range of activities. From cross-country meets to volleyball and football games, there’s something for everyone to watch and enjoy.

James Ellis coming to Chik-Wauk Museum

Chik-Wauk Museum and The Gunflint Trail Historical Society is pleased to announce its next Artist in Residence, oil painter James Ellis. All are welcome to meet Ellis and to view some of his work on Saturday, September 13, from 4-5 p.m. This Artist Meet and Greet will be held at MidTrail, at the Schaap Community Center (7401 Gunflint Trail), and is free of charge.

Prost to Fall Fun! Bluefin Bay Hosts Second Annual North Shore Oktoberfest on October 11

Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts is thrilled to announce its Second Annual North Shore Oktoberfest, set to take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This free event is open to the public and promises a day filled with German-themed flavors, fall beverages, lively contests, local crafts, and family-friendly fun What’s in Store: All Day (12:00–6:00 p.m.): Enjoy authentic Oktoberfest cuisine including Reubens, bratwurst, cabbage rolls, pretzels with cheese sauce, as well as local Oktoberfest beer. Guests can try their hand at Hammerschlagen and Pretzel Toss, explore a craft show featuring ceramics, candles, weaving, and woodwork, plus craft activities for kiddos!

VPC needs volunteers

The Violence Prevention Center is looking for folks to join our team as Volunteer Advocates! As a Volunteer Advocate, you will be trained to provide confidential support to callers on the VPC’s 24 Hour Support Line after business hours. No experience is required - the VPC provides you with all required training.
