If there is one contest that is impossible to judge, it's the Cutest Puppy Contest. Still, each year, one puppy is picked as the winner out of a mess of cute puppies. This year, the winner, Mabel, a fourmonth- old, ten-pound Corgi, received a purple bandana, a testament to her undeniable cuteness. Mabel is owned by Annabelle Silence, Grand Marais.

An update on ongoing repairs and road closures across the Forest On June 24, the Superior National Forest (SNF) issued an Emergency Forest Closure Order 09-09-24-05, for June Storm Restrictions - restricting occupancy and use in several affected areas across the 3-million-acre National Forest. Today, August 7, 44 days after the storm the SNF has 22 roads closed.
