10 YEARS AGO JULY 12, 2014 * The Cook County/Grand Marais Development Authority (EDA) listened to presentations by Jeff Corey of One Roof Community Housing and Rick Klun of /Center City Housing Corp at the Tuesday, July 8 board meeting. Both organizations are non-profits that develop and operate a variety of housing options in the Greater Duluth area.

The missing rocking chair

It was sometimes back in the late 1960s and I was an insurance adjuster working for GAB out of Duluth, Minnesota and my territory was the North Shore from the Duluth up to the Canadian border. I remember receiving a claim assignment for the theft of a rocking chair up at Croftville just north of the Devils Track river.

Gunflint Trail repairs scheduled over the next two weeks

Spot repairs on the Gunflint Trail (CSAH 12) started Wednesday, July 11 and will be ongoing through next week, weather permitting, the Cook County Highway Department announced. The repairs begin at George Washington Pines and end at Trout Lake Rd. Road.
