Lower Shore: Duluth to Two Harbors Surface water temperatures near Duluth were in the low 50’s this week thanks to the St. Louis River inputting warmer water. Fishing near Duluth was good for Lake Trout using stick baits in the top 20 feet of the water column, trolling between 2-3 mph. Targeting the edges of the stained water and temperature breaks was the most effective strategy to get on fish.
We held a Volunteer Appreciation lunch on Wednesday, May 15th for our wonderful volunteers to thank them for all their time and talents they share with us each month. Sharon Brenner has been passing mail, visiting with residents, serving snacks, and doing a variety of chair exercises with us for about 30 years.
On Wednesday, May 29, U.S. Senator Tina Smith sent a scathing letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, following a United States Postal Service (USPS) Inspector General (OIG) report that reveals severe management failures contributing to critical postal service disruptions in Bemidji and the broader Minnesota-North Dakota District, including around 80,000 pieces of delayed mail. Senator Smith is calling for immediate action to address these failures and restore reliable postal service for Minnesotans.
Erika Parker, Lutsen, a freshman at the University of Minnesota Duluth, was named to the Dean's List for the spring semester. Erika Parker is enrolled at UMD-Science & Engineering Swenson College, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Chemistry.
