A public hearing will be held on June 12, 2024, to review Red Five LLC's request to build a 10unit resort at 7226 West Highway 61 in Tofte. The land is zoned Tofte General Commercial.
Lions Host D-Feet Hearing Loss Walk
The Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation annual walk to raise funds for research of hearing loss is set for Saturday, June 1, in Bemidji. This D-Feet Walk for Hearing Loss is a two mile walk from Diamond Point Park to the Paul & Babe statue and back. Walkup registration of $25 begins at 8:30 at Diamond Point Park with the walk starting at 9:30. Kids under 12 are free. After their walk is completed, participants will be given lunch and entertained by live music and games for kids.
Despite the rain, Kids Bicycle Rodeo was a big success
Cook County Safe Routes to School held its annual Kid's Bike Safety Rodeo on May 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. indoors at the Cook County Community Center. Despite the cold, wet weather outside, the event saw a commendable turnout, a testament to the children's resilience and commitment from their parents to their safety.

Sheriff requests new investigative deputy
BRIAN LARSEN Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen appeared before the Cook County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, May 14, to seek approval of a Deputy Sheriff/Investigator job description and job grade so he can start recruiting for the position. The position is included in the Sheriff's Department's 2024 budget but still needs an approved job description, which has since been created, reviewed, and graded.
