County commissioners come from all walks of life. Our commissioners have worked in education, small business, the trades, government, and construction. There is no best experience for this elected office, but one’s experience may provide knowledge about communication, finance, budgeting, personnel and law, which is beneficial.

David Joseph Revier, Age 60 of White Bear Lake, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 30th, 2023. Preceded in death by Father Lloyd. As lakes and trails become snow and ice free, recreation on the Superior National Forest (SNF) increases for adventurers of all ages to enjoy. Thus, SNF wildlife managers remind visitors to not only be considerate of other visitors but also the diverse wildlife species that call the SNF their home. This spring, learning and practicing Bear Aware principles while enjoying the SNF is important for both visitors and bears. Black bears are now active across the landscape, often with several cubs hungrily looking for food after a winter of hibernation.
On Friday, May 10, the Cook County High School girls' fast-pitch softball team squared off against the Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers and lost 22-7. The loss dropped the Vikings record to 3-6 and 2-4 in the conference.
Despite a low-snow year, the Cook County Snowmobile Club persevered, hosting a complete 2023-24 race season. Their partnership with the Minnesota Snow Drag Tour elevated the excitement, introducing a new points series held at all Ridge Riders races: Skyport Lodge, Hungry Jack Lodge, and Poplar Haus.
