Abigail and Linden Sutton graduate from college

Abigail and Linden Sutton of Grand Marais were among 252 graduates to receive bachelor’s degrees at Northwestern College during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 11. Thirty students received Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees, while the rest of the graduating seniors were granted Bachelor of Arts degrees.

Each year neighbors and friends on the Gunflint Trail plan and execute all aspects of the beloved Gunflint Trail Canoe Races to raise money for a worthy cause. This year’s Canoe Races will take place Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Gunflint Lodge Harbor on the south shore of Gunflint Lake, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Cook County PHHS to Receive Large Child Care Grant

The good news was a call on Wednesday afternoon from the Minnesota Governor's Office announcing that Cook County Public Health and Human Services was receiving a large grant for child care services. This grant will significantly enhance the quality and accessibility of child care services in our community.

Cook County new hires and retirees

The county hired Morgan Starkey to work at the Sheriff 's Department as a public safety telecommunicator/jailer. This hire leaves one opening in the department.

Free Poetry Workshop at the Library

The Grand Marais Public Library invites poets to workshop their own poems on Wednesday, May 29, from 6-7:30 p.m.. This workshop is for ages fourteen and up, at all skill levels.
