Girls’ open softball season with one win and one loss in doubleheader
The Cook County girls’ fast-pitch softball team opened the season to cheers and excitement from a lively crowd who watched the Vikings battle the Two Harbors Agates in a doubleheader. Game 1 was exciting, with the teams tied at 8-8 in the fourth.

Arrowhead Animal Rescue purchases trailer for new animal shelter
Arrowhead Animal Rescue, a Cook County nonprofit dedicated to helping animals in need, has exciting news to share regarding a new animal shelter for the community. As many are aware, the previous animal shelter was removed from the Grand Marais Rec Park in 2021, and the county has been without an animal shelter since.
