At the county board’s meeting on Tuesday, July 22, Human Resources Director Alison Plummer asked commissioners to approve the promotion of Jacob Backer to the Engineering Technician Supervisor position.

Lake Superior water levels are lower than last year

While Lake Superior and Michigan- Huron are below their longterm monthly averages for July by 5 inches, it’s interesting to note that Lakes St. Clair, Erie, and Ontario are 4, 5, and 2 inches above their long-term average July levels, according to the Department of the Army Detroit District, Corps of Engineers, who provide a monthly update of the current water situation in the Great Lakes region.

Search called off for missing Lake County man

Authorities have suspended the search for Gene Adam Doherty, 40, from Silver Bay. Doherty was last seen on July 1, when he left his mother’s house near the town of Silver Bay.

Matters of Record

Matthew Curtis Anderson, 16, Silver Bay, was cited for driving 77 mph in a 60 mph special zone set by the Commissioner. He was given adult probation for one year and fined $75.00.
