PUC sets rates for 2024

Recently, the hospital board met in private to discuss potentially suing Cook County community members over various statements made about OUR public hospital. Any board member that votes to allow the silencing of the community through threats of a lawsuit should be removed, and any administration official that pushes a lawsuit against the ability of the public to speak out ought to be removed from their positions.

North Shore Health Care Center records first Covid case
It was a long time coming but perhaps inevitable with how easily COVID-19 spreads, but the first case of COVID-19 was recorded this past week at the North Shore Care Center. When asked about the incident, Todd Ford, Public Information Coordinator for the courthouse and hospital, responded, 'I am sure you recall that our Care Center residents made it through the entire pandemic and beyond with zero cases of COVID.

Cook County Commissioners grant themselves a raise in salary, set the levy at 5.16 percent for 2024
Saying he wanted to bring commissioner salaries in line with what they would have been if former commissioners had only granted themselves cost of living raises (COLAs) beginning in 2003, Cook County Commissioner Dave Mills called for a resolution to raise their salaries by $3,600 for 2024. For Mills, who withdrew two previous motions to increase commissioner wages, the third time was the charm.

The Grand Marais Film Society is preparing for its next showing this Saturday, December 16th, at 4 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. “This is one of my favorite Christmas films, and this year is its 20th anniversary!” said Tom Morse of the film society.
