Over 20 non-profit organizations celebrated at the 2nd Dessert to the Max event, hosted by Boreal Community Media

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, over 20 Cook County non-profits gathered at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts for the 2nd Dessert to the Max event. Each organization offered a sweet treat for attendees to enjoy, a friendly face, a door prize, and highlights of upcoming events or work they’ve recently done. The event, which was hosted by Boreal Community Media, aimed to celebrate and support local non-profits, the work they’ve done, and their staff and volunteers.

The count will be held on Saturday, December 16 for the Grand Marais CBC, which is a 7.5-mile radius circle from a point three miles south of the middle of Devil Track Lake.

Native Sky watchers join the Dark Sky Festival lineup to share how the night sky guides the celebrations and movements of the native people

For thousands of years, native peoples have relied on the night sky to mark the passing of time. At the 5th annual Dark Sky Festival, Native Skywatchers, a group leading the revitalization efforts of indigenous astronomy, will join the festival weekend to share stories and provide insight into the significance of the night sky both culturally and spiritually.
