Cook County Junior Varsity Vikings Volleyball on the rise

Under the direction of Coach Lori Wester and Assistant Coach Morgan Starkey, a young Junior Varsity team came out ahead with a winning season. The Cook County Vikings Junior Varsity team started things off with a win against Silver Bay before coming up short against a few powerhouse schools in the form of Esko and South Ridge.

Conservation Officer Tales

Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. Bryan Hansel hadn't been on a long solo bicycle trip in the last few years, not since he biked from Duluth to Dubuque, Iowa to visit his parents. So, when he contemplated a long ride, he chose to do much of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Border to Border Touring Route.
