Cook County Education Foundation announces the date for E.A.T.s

The Cook County Schools Education Foundation wants to announce that Thursday, March 7, is the date for their annual fundraiser, E.A.T.S (Enriching Academic Through Sustenance). This event is an opportunity for ticket holders to eat tasty samples provided by local restaurants and food vendors, in addition to supporting the students of ISD 166 by purchasing a ticket and bidding on the many silent auction items always available.

The Fourth of July is the only time when good people should be permitted to talk about bunting. And, Christmas is, of course, the green and red elephant in the room that we shall presently ignore.

Seventh-grade volleyball team wins Polar League title

Brian Larsen Talent, grit, and determination pretty well describe the Cook County seventh-grade girl's volleyball team. And add selflessness because it took all of that to claim the seventh-grade Polar League championship.

Pet adoption for rescue animals was a success!

Arrowhead Animal Rescue (ARR) held a pet adoption for rescue cats, kittens, and two dogs last Saturday at the Hub Senior Center in Grand Marais. While the dogs weren't on hand, quite a few sweet kittens and older cats were available to see, hold, and pet. The adoption process takes a few days, so no cats or kittens left with new owners on Saturday. That said, quite a few applications were filled out, so many people will soon have a furry new friend living with them.

Vikings fall to Ely, Cromwell-Wright

It was a tough week for the Vikings girls' volleyball team as they wrapped up regular season play at home. On Monday, October 16, the Ely Timberwolves came to town to face the Vikings, and the Vikings were flat, losing 25-12, 25-11, and 25-7.
