The West End Community Garden project is progressing nicely. A group of volunteers worked hard last Monday assembling bricks and dirt into 4’ x 15’ (inside dimensions) garden plots for the West End Community Garden.
On Sunday, October 15, twenty eight local residents participated in Cook County Local Energy Project’s (CCLEP’s) annual event. Recent years included a Solar Tour to see residential solar applications in Cook County, outside the City of Grand Marais. This year’s event had a different twist!

Always one of our absolute favorite meets of the season, North-South Invitational Tonight (Oct. 17), the Agates paired with Mesabi East and Rockridge. The South teams consisted of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, Denfeld, and Proctor-Hermantown. The North team took the win tonight.
It wasn’t raining cats and dogs at the Thursday, October 12 Polar League Conference championship race held on the Pincushion Mountain trails, but a light drizzle midway through the girls varsity race turned into a steady rain during the boys 5K. Still, the rain didn’t seem to slow the runners down as some very good times were posted on the hilly trails.
Led by senior running back Ray Dressely's six touchdowns and a stout defense, the Cook County High School Viking football team put on an excellent show for fans during Homecoming weekend with their 38-0 defeat of the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs last Friday night. Dressely was undoubtedly the 'X' Ray factor in this game.

Cook County had little trouble with Cass Lake-Bena Panthers in their Friday, October 6 matchup, taking a 62-6 win at Cass Lake. Viking quarterback Hunter Rex only threw the ball four times, completing three passes for 82 yards and one touchdown.
