New mountain bike race coming to the Gunflint Trail

Called The Gunflint Scramble, a new mountain bike race will take place on Saturday, October 7, starting and finishing at Bearskin Lodge, 26 miles up the Gunflint Trail. The riders will leave the starting line at 10 a.m.

Grand Marais City Council approves preliminary 2023 levy at 7.19 percent

Grand Marais City Councilors approved a 7.19 percent preliminary 2023 tax levy payable in 2024 at the councilors' September 13 meeting. The council has until late December to set the final levy, and as Mayor Tracy Benson noted, “Hopefully all we can do is go down from here.”
