Brian Larsen In 2022, the Rec Park's 18 Lakeside campsites grossed $152,000, a hefty sum, but should those campsites be removed to create more greenspace for the public? Or should they stay to produce more revenue for the City of Grand Marais, with some of those dollars helping to keep the levy down?

Hospital board raises 2024 levy

Brian Larsen Citing rising costs throughout the system, on August 24 the North Shore Health hospital board voted to raise the levy from $1,500,000 to $1,725,000 for 2024, an increase of $225,000 over last year. The increase is the result of two main factors said Hospital Director/ CEO Kimber Wraalstad.

The count was full, and Harmon Killebrew had swung at a bad pitch, checking his swing. He looked back at the ump to see if he would get called for a strike, but unfortunately, Harmon had hit the ball. And, unfortunately for the pitcher, the ball went over the fence for a home run.

Come celebrate two lives well lived! Robert (Jerry to all) Carpenter passed away on October 13, 2022, in Duluth from Alzheimer’s. His wife Lorraine preceded him in death on June 19, 2012, after a hard battle with cancer.

Northshore Challenge-NS Storm Invite cross country running meet

Duluth East boys’ and girls’ cross country teams dominated the North Shore Storm Invite competition held Thursday, August 31, on a perfect day for running. In addition to Duluth East and Cook County/Two Harbors, teams came from Cloquet, Moose Lake/Willow River/Barnum, Carlton/Wrenshall, and South Ridge.
