Request for Proposals: Cramer Road Residential Development, Cook County, Minnesota

The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Cook County, Minnesota (the “HRA”) is requesting proposals from qualified entities for the development of residential housing in Cook County, Minnesota. In May of 2023, the HRA entered into an Option Agreement for a 40-acre parcel (county parcel ID 20-203-1200) on Cramer Road in Schroeder Township (the “Property”; see Appendix A), for the development of multiple residential housing units.

Senator Grant Hauschild announces ‘Northland Strong’ Initiative

Plan will Focus on Outreach and Policy Initiatives under 5 categories - Strong Families, Safe Communities, Outdoor Heritage, Innovative Economy, and A State that Works On Monday, October 16, Senator Grant Hauschild ( DFL- He rmantown ) announced the launch of his ‘Northland Strong’ Initiative, an effort to focus his outreach and policy priorities to keep Northland communities strong and safe. Given the fact that Senator Hauschild represents the largest and most rural district in the State, it is critical that he focus his outreach and policy work to be most effective for northeastern Minnesota.

Large community garden being built in Tofte

The West End Community Garden project is progressing nicely. A group of volunteers worked hard last Monday assembling bricks and dirt into 4’ x 15’ (inside dimensions) garden plots for the West End Community Garden.

CCLEP’s clean energy community event

On Sunday, October 15, twenty eight local residents participated in Cook County Local Energy Project’s (CCLEP’s) annual event. Recent years included a Solar Tour to see residential solar applications in Cook County, outside the City of Grand Marais. This year’s event had a different twist!

North swim team wins, prepares for Sections

Always one of our absolute favorite meets of the season, North-South Invitational Tonight (Oct. 17), the Agates paired with Mesabi East and Rockridge. The South teams consisted of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, Denfeld, and Proctor-Hermantown. The North team took the win tonight.

Vikings shutout Kelliher/Northome

Led by senior running back Ray Dressely's six touchdowns and a stout defense, the Cook County High School Viking football team put on an excellent show for fans during Homecoming weekend with their 38-0 defeat of the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs last Friday night. Dressely was undoubtedly the 'X' Ray factor in this game.
