Rain Garden nearing completion
On Monday, August 28, a group from the Cook County Chapter of Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light (MNIPL), in collaboration with The Cook County Master Gardeners worked into the evening to restore the rain garden along Highway 61 at the old entrance to the Gunflint Trail.

It’s time for a Turnover I recently have been practicing making turnovers. It started with a bowl of leftover apples.
Ham and Gruyere Turnovers
Ingredients - 1 cup (3 ounces) grated Gruyère. - 4 ounces cooked ham cut into ¼-inch dice.
Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers
Ingredients - 1 lb. puff pastry, (2 sheets) thawed according to package instructions.
Stauber named 2023 Legislator of the Year for his work on the Great Lakes
On August 18, Minnesota U.S. Eighth District Congressman Pete Stauber was recognized by the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force for his strong support of the Great Lakes Navigation System and Clure Public Marine Terminal in Duluth, Minnesota.

The Price of an Education In the 1998 film “Good Will Hunting” the titular character is at a bar and says to a Harvard undergrad, “One day you’re gonna wake up and realize you dropped a hundred fifty grand on an ***ing education you coulda got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the library.” True words, perhaps. Today a higher education will set you back even more.
