Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place in September

Cook County will join more than 600 communities nationwide with two walks to end Alzheimer’s this coming September. The Grand Portage team will walk on Saturday, September 9 and the Grand Marais team will walk on Saturday, September 23, leaving the Hub/Senior Center at 2:30 p.m.

Conservation Officer Tales

Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. Superior National Forest solicits campground concessionaires

On Monday, July 17, Thomas, Hall-Superior National Forest Supervisor announced the solicitation of proposals for campground concession Special Use Permit for numerous campgrounds and recreation areas on the Superior National Forest. Selected concessionaire permits issued would be for providing high-quality public services through operating and maintaining government- owned recreation facilities.
