We live the results of our ancestors’ choices. That is so true when it comes to the history of white men’s Manifest Destiny expansion into lands populated by native American tribes. When Columbus landed on a Caribbean Island in 1492, some five – 15 million Indian folk preceded him andhis successor exploiters of the New World.

Matters of Record

Russel Edward Jr. Straub, 64, of Palm Coast, Florida, pled guilty to a “DWI- Second degree driving while impaired; refused to submit to a chemical test,” a gross misdemeanor, for a stop that occurred August 20, 2022. He was given two years of adult-supervised probation in Florida and must comply with the ignition interlock program. His fines and fees totaled $1,085.00.

Conservation Officer Tales

Although the Cook County News-Herald knows that the majority of sportsmen and women are law-abiding folks, there are a few that run afoul of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officers. Periodically, the DNR provides a report of some of the miscreants the Conservation Officers (CO) have encountered. The News-Herald shares these stories as a reminder to all to be safe and to follow the rules!
