CCHS Ice Storm robotics team performs exceptionally well at the Northern Lights Regional

The last time Cook County High School had a robotics team in the competition was in 2019, and then COVID-19 came along and shut the program down. Following a period of student disinterest, Ice Storm (3054) made a triumphant return in 2024-25. This resurgence was largely due to the leadership of new coach Sarah Anderson, a math teacher at ISD 166, and mentor Marie Tessier, a community member and software development specialist. Their dedication and the enthusiasm of seven highly motivated CCHS students have truly revitalized the program.

Bonspiel results from the Charles J. Futterer Memorial Bonspiel

The Cook County Curling Club hosted the Charles J. Futterer Memorial Bonspiel this past weekend, a thrilling display of competitive spirit. Ten out-of-town teams, including Charles J. Futterer senior's children and grandchildren, were part of the 13-team roster. The event was not just about competition, but also about coming together as a community. As always, there were a lot of spectators behind the glass throughout the weekend, some of whom came to just say hi to family and friends and to watch some good curling. The Cook County Curling Club is in its final week of curling for the 2024-2025 season.

Moving on

I’m six weeks out from a shoulder replacement, and because it’s limited my activity, I’ve had plenty of time on my hands for leisure pursuits, including reading. For most of my adulthood I’ve done most of my reading at night; there’s nothing like reading until I can’t keep my eyes open another second. Sadly, though, it often means I finish a few pages a night, so it takes ages to get through one book.

Wellness

Is there such a thing as too much massage or too little? What is the happy medium? What are the benefits to regular massage? These and many such related questions are ones that I get from clients. The truth of the matter is actually very simple, yet not exact: each person has a unique body with unique needs.
