The Cook County Vikings 7th grade team took second at the Polar League Tournament. After beating Escko and Barnum in pool play the Vikings took on Moose Lake Willow River for the championship.
Netting for harvesting cisco, also referred to as tullibee, and whitefish for personal use will be open this fall on designated lakes. Whitefish and cisco sport netting is open to Minnesota residents only. About 700 Minnesotans participate each year.
There wasn’t a home game last Friday night because the 0-5 Bigfork Huskies called to say it was forfeiting the game, which goes as a 2-0 win for the now 5-0 Viking football team.
The Cook County girls’ volleyball team played a strong, exciting match against Carlton-Wrenshall Raptors on Tuesday, Sept. 30 but unfortunately lost three games to one.
The Vikings’ volleyball team traveled to Moose Lake/Willow River to play against some tough opponents. They faced the Chisholm Bluestreaks, a team known for their strong serves and defensive play. The Deer River Warriors, on the other hand, are known for their aggressive offense and quick transitions. The Cromwell-Wright team is a well-rounded team with a mix of offensive and defensive strengths.
The Borealis Chorale and Orchestra invites community members to join in making music this fall as rehearsals begin Sunday, October 19, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The ensemble welcomes all interested musicians—no auditions required, and all experience levels encouraged.
